Our region is currently experiencing a high demand for optometric appointments. Here at Northumberland Optometry we strive to provide quality care in a timely manner. In order for us to provide access to the highest-quality care possible for all of our patients, we are trying to reduce the number of missed appointments in our clinic. Your appointments are very important to us, we understand that sometimes appointment times may need to be changed or cancelled which we are more than happy to assist you with; however, we would appreciate if patients could give us a least 24 hours notice for all amendments so we can offer these spaces to other patients on our waiting list. Available appointments are in high demand and your early cancellation notice will give another patient the opportunity to make use of your allotted time.
To provide care in a timely manner for everyone, we have implemented an appointment/cancellation policy which enables us to better utilize available appointments for our patients' needs. We value your business and we ask that you respect our scheduling policies.
Appointment Cancellations Policy
- There is no charge to cancel or reschedule an appointment if 24-hours notice is provided.
- Weekday Appointments: If less then 24-hours notice is given to cancel an appointment, a $50.00 fee will be billed to you or assessed to your file, and must be paid at your next appointment. If 2 appointments are missed you must pay both no-shows fees before you can rebook.
- Weekend Appointments: If less then 24-hours notice is given to cancel an appointment or you miss an appointment on the weekend, a $50.00 fee will be billed to you or assessed to your file and must be paid before you can rebook and you will not be able to rebook for a weekend time slot as these are the busiest times.
- No Show: In the event a patient does not “show up” for a pre-booked appointment, a $50.00 fee will be billed to you and assessed to your file and must be paid before you can rebook. If there is more than 3 “no show”, our practice policy is to ask the patient to find a new provider. Our clinic will be happy to transfer your records to a new office of your choice once all no-show or cancellation fees have been paid in full. No records will be released if an outstanding balance remains on the file.
Please note that we live in Canada; winter happens every year. Weather is usually not a valid reason for missing or rescheduling your appointment, so please give yourself extra time.
